It’s been 25 years since one of the largest society of esthetic surgery, i.e. the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, was established. 25 years of providing cosmetic surgery services was an excellent opportunity to celebrate this event at the JW. Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa in Phoenix, Arizona. At the time when Europe is seized by severe winter weather, in Phoenix all the scientific meeting participants could enjoy beautiful and sunny weather. Obviously, it was possible only during lunch time since from the very morning till late evening hours the sessions took place. New advancements in cosmetic surgery were presented including non-invasive corrective procedures of face and body as well as facial and body surgical procedures. A significant amount of time was devoted to presently popular laser lipolysis. It is understandable that Americans devote so much time to the body shaping procedures since the problem of obesity is the main health hazard for an average American citizen. The modern portrayal of plastic surgery in media and the Internet was also discussed. As befits the 25th anniversary scientific meeting, the evenings were abundant in receptions and banquets. Jerzy Kolasiński, MD, also participated in this Convention. He is the only Polish doctor who has been the member of the Academy for more than 10 years. A very pleasant coincidence is the fact that the year 2009 is also an anniversary year for the Kolasinski Clinic. Similarily to the American Academy, our clinic was also established in 1984.
