Wednesday, 5 October 2005, The visit of a world famous surgeon, i.e. professor Maria Siemionow, was an extremely pleasant event during the last few days in the Kolasinski Clinic. Professor Siemionow is the supervisor of the Plastic Surgery Research Team of Cleveland Clinic Foundation (US). She has won fame for the last few years thanks to her research on face transplantation. She is also a world authority in the filed of microsurgery of vessels and nerves. She supervises a team of researchers thanks to whom the knowledge about allogennic transplats (from other specimen of the same species) has been broadened. Our Clinic also wishes to join this team by conducting tests on hair skin transplants and hair transplats taken from other people. Professor Siemionow has graded our so-far achievements in the filed of Hair Reconstructive Surgery very high, which sets a solid base for further research on allotransplants.
Taking advantage of the knowledge of microsurgery of nerves professor Siemionow considers the performance of surgeries treating neuropathy (especially of diabetic type) in our clinic as well.
Professor Siemionow accepted the Kolasiński’s invitation (the board memeber of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery) to take part in the Congress of the ISHRS in San Diego next year.
