This year summer was extremely favourable for Polish gliders. First, in June Sebastian Kawa gained the title of the world champion in the club class in Norway, and the second Polish pilot, Arkadiusz Downar, won a bronze medal. Piotr Jarysz, a junior from Poznań, made his debut in this event and was ranked seventh. We were extremely delighted as our boss has been a coach of this talented Poznanian for two years now and, additionally, Jarysz’s participation in the tournament was sponsored by our clinic!
Then the best pilots of the Old Continent met in a Lithuanian town of Pociunai in order to take part in the 10. Gliding European Championships. Our boss was also a member of the Polish representation team. The competition was played in four classes: the standard, 15-meters, 18-meters and the open class. The Poles succeeded in the standard class and were ranked first and second:
Tomasz Rubaj became a European Champion and Mariusz Poźniak became a vice-champion. Stanisław Wujczak became a vice-champion of Europe in the 18-meters class. He was bravely accompanied by Kolasiński, M.D., who ended competition ranked 11th. Even though only medals count in sport, such a result obtained by our boss makes us be proud of him as, after all, the competitors were the best glider pilots in the world, often professionally practising this sport discipline.
It is also worth mentioning that the Polish team was ranked just behind the representation of Germany (wining 4 medals) leaving behind such powers like France, Great Britain or Italy.
